My name is Victoria!

I’m a Social Media Manager @ Merged Media!

This is my personal blog where I’ll be sharing some of my completed work, work in progress, and things that I’m learning along the way! Before I get started on all that, I think it’s important for you to know how I got here!

HOW I GOT HERE:

I started as a recent University of Guelph graduate with a Studio Art degree. ????????‍???? I was unsure of my future, given the global pandemic we’re in. However, advertising was always my goal and passion.

Who wouldn’t love a career where you get to be creative, witty, and a lil bit out there … all for a medium-range salary and minimal health coverage! ????????‍♀️

Anyway, It was the end of the school year and I applied to Merged on a whim. I thought that if I could get a job right out of university, I’d be set and wouldn’t need to go to college in the fall!

WHAT A WIN! ???? (gotta save that coin somehow)

I never thought I would get this job due to the “crappy economy” and “job struggle for recent grads”…

Nevertheless, I had a gut feeling that Merged was the place for me! (I can now happily confirm this✨)

I ended up getting an interview! I was STOKED, to say the least! My anxiety was through the roof as Dave and Jay asked me how I would go about marketing a real estate, wildlife removal, and furniture company.

I waited a few hours till Dave emailed me. I MADE IT TO THE NEXT ROUND OF INTERVIEWS! ????

I swear I felt like one of those people on American Idol who are given the golden ticket to Hollywood.

Dave said they wanted to see what I could do in terms of advertisement creation. He gave me a challenge to create a Facebook ad campaign. It was for Wildside Wildlife Removal & Prevention ????

I MADE:

✔️ Three images
✔️ Three headlines
✔️ Three copies (the text in an ad)

I worked my butt off and must have made like 30 different versions!

This was my time to shine! I WAS DETERMINED TO BEAT EVERY PERSON WHO MADE THEM ADS!

I treated the project like it was my own American Idol or Project Runway challenge ????

Long story short! I got the job! ????  (ya know, hence why you’re reading my blog)

Shoutout to Wildside…and wild animals in general. Who knows where I’d be without them.

I’ll never look at raccoons the same way again. ❤️
